Inspired by the earth, sea and sky of Pembrokeshire
My jewellery adventures started at The School of Jewellery and Silversmithing in Hockley, Birmingham - in the heart of the jewellery quarter - from there I worked in the studio of the late and great Andre Grima HRH, Jermyn Street, London.
Now I live in the ancient landscape of Pembrokeshire. Surrounded by sea and the beautiful beaches, beside the famous coastal path and on the edge of the Preseli Hills, home of the unique and magical bluestone that was lovingly transported to form the site that would become Stonehenge.
I constantly draw on this ancient landscape for my inspiration, combining its shoreline and hill walking searching for all it unearths and washes in on the tide.
I’m a member of Makers Guild in Wales who have a gallery in Cardiff Bay showing a selection of my jewellery.
Some techniques I use
I love using techniques such as reticulation - melting the surface so it creates waves,
roller printing with different textures I create with my original etched plates that I’ve named them after inspiration of our south westerly winds and the green verdant land they create.
Interweaving a mixture of metals of brass, copper, bronze, silver and gold.
Soft tones of a blue/green verdigris and copper treated with fire and water to create a rich earth-red finish, alchemy? or maybe just a bit of magic.
I then mix them up with moon stones for the other worldliness they bring and of course pearls in all their natural baroque glory.
With a commitment to sustainability, all pieces are made from recycled gold and 925 Sterling Silver and come in silver embossed recycled card boxes.
